  Avoid: optimize communication polling rates or database queries while ignoring the actual display hardware
  Read it as: "the HMI touchscreen has slow response to finger presses"

## Words it is confused with

- GUI: any graphical screen, not specifically for operating machines
- SCADA: a whole supervisory system, not just the local operator panel
- UI: general user interface, not industrial or safety-critical
- dashboard: read-only data view, not controls for running equipment
- PLC: the controller itself, not the panel that talks to it
